The Fine Print
Terms & Conditions
A few plain agreements between you and the house. By opening the door — visiting or making an account — you accept them.

What this place is
Lost Letters Room is a creative writing experience. You can compose letters that will never be delivered, leave them to be found by strangers, craft small keepsakes, and read what others have lost. It is not a social network, not a game, and not a delivery service. Nothing here is a real message to a real named person unless you make it so, and even then it stays fiction.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age where you live) to make an account.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account.
- Give us accurate information, and tell us if you believe your account has been misused.
What you write
You keep ownership of the letters and objects you create. By posting or losing a letter that others can discover, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and share that content within the experience (for example, showing it to whoever finds it on the Atlas). This licence exists only to run the service and ends when you delete the content, save for copies we are required to keep or that others have already been shown.
The house rules
When you write here, you agree not to:
- Target a real, identifiable person with harassment, threats, or content meant to harm them;
- Post anything unlawful, hateful, or that sexualises minors;
- Share another person's private information without their leave;
- Upload malware, spam, or attempt to break, overload, or probe the service;
- Scrape, copy, or resell the contents of the room at scale.
We may remove content or close an account that breaks these rules, usually with notice, but at once where harm is serious or ongoing.
Donations
Support is voluntary and helps keep the room open. Donations are processed by Stripe and are generally non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. A donation buys no special rights, features, or ownership.
Our own work
The design, writing, artwork, code, and the curated tales of the Atlas are ours or our licensors' and are protected by law. You may enjoy them within the experience, but not copy or reuse them outside it without permission.
No guarantees
We tend this place with care, but it is offered as is. We do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or that any letter will ever be found. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from your use of the room. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending things
You may close your account at any time from your profile or by writing to us. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if we must stop offering the service. Some clauses — ownership, the house rules, and the limits above — survive the end of your account.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; we will change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know. Continuing to use the room means you accept the current version. See also our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Questions? Write to support@lostlettersroom.com.
